The family of James Richard Neumann

Michael Neumann, born in 1843, emigrated from Germany to Henry County, Illinois. He and his wife, Mary Block, had one child, Gustau Carl, who continued working the family farm near Geneseo, Illinois. Gus and his wife Anna Menzenburg had eight children, six of whom are pictured below. The small boy standing next to his father is Wallie Neumann, father of James Richard. A website in Family Tree Maker is under construction.

The family of Caroline Neas Neumann

The Neas family came from Germany in 1731 and migrated from Pennsylvania through Virginia and finally, into east Tennessee about 1802. Caroline's father, Edgar Franklin Neas, was in the nineth generation of Neases in America. He moved to Evanston, Illinois to pursue a master's degree at Northwestern University there meeting and marrying Virginia Lois Hedblom.

One branch of the Neas family moved to Indiana in about 1850. There are letters from the families in Indiana written back to their parents and siblings in East Tennessee. The webpage for these letters is under construction.
